Patients often ask how long recovery 'really' takes. The honest answer is in three stages, not one.
Days 0–3: the soft-tissue window. You'll have mild to moderate swelling that peaks around 48 hours and resolves by day 4–5. Ice for the first day, then warm compresses. Pain is usually well managed with over-the-counter analgesics and a single prescribed dose at night for the first 48 hours.
Weeks 2–6: the integration window. Inside the bone, osteoblasts are knitting around the implant surface. You won't feel this — but it is the most critical phase. Avoid heavy chewing on the implant side, skip hot saunas, and take the mouthwash exactly as prescribed.
Month 3–4: the final crown. Once we confirm full integration on a CBCT, the digital scan and final ceramic crown follow. From that appointment, the implant works like a tooth.
The whole journey — first consult to a chewing crown — is usually 3 to 4 months for a single implant. We will give you a written timeline at the planning appointment.
